We aim to use raffia straw as it is natural sustainable product, essentially it is byproduct of the food industry. One of the many benefits of straw, like any organic material it is environmentally benign and it sequesters carbon. When braided it provides high UPF 50+ sun protection making it a very desirable material.

Wool has reputable environmental credentials including long-life span, durable, recyclable and biodegrades on land and in water and does not contribute to microplastic pollution. Wool felt is a byproduct of the fashion industry meaning it is a secondary product made in manufacturing similar to sawdust from a sawmill.
