We are a born and bred Australian family business. Having had a successful career in the legal industry, it was time to start my passion project, I have always loved fashion and accessories and have always like to be presentable when I leave the house. It is the way I was raised.
Are you only selling hats? is the peculiar question I keep getting asked. We hope to become so much more than just being a hat store which is a feat in itself, to be honest. We hope one day soon, you can have an entire wardrobe of Banjo Swagger in your home.
So why hats?
Put simply, No Hat. No Play.
We all really need to protect our skin from the harsh elements of the Australian Sun and it starts by wearing a hat when you go outside in to the elements.
The rule at school was, No Hat. No Play.
However, since I have matured a little, I have realised, my skin is quite damaged from the sun and we really need to make sure the old school rule is implemented as adults and hats in my eyes, is the perfect product for the launch of Banjo Swagger.
Quality over quantity
Since I was young, I have enjoyed the whole shopping experience whether in person (which it was when I was really young) and often enjoy buying online and receiving my parcels.
The biggest problem I found with purchasing products was the quality of the goods being received and a significant amount of times it was not.
Then, when sourcing our products for Banjo Swagger it was astonishing the lack of quality received and it became quite disheartening. It was an expensive exercise to say the least.
We hoped to start with Australian Wool hats as we found there was a lack of good quality products with a quality construction in the retail sector.
I purchased a 100% wool hat many years ago from a mid to high end retail supplier which supplied international brands. When this hat need replacing I could not find a similar hat that had the same quality and I have purchased numerous hats up until now to know there is quality brand needed in the Australian market.
I have been wanting to start this business for approximately 3 years and in the last 18-24 months have been sourcing manufacturers to ensure we obtain great quality products and styles that can relate to our Australian lifestyles.
So why raffia and straw hats?
Well I will make it short, my favourite straw hat went for a swim on a very windy day with the alligators at a wild life sanctuary. The End.
